Microsoft Confirms Windows 11 25H2 Will Roll Out Widely Soon via WSUS

The long-anticipated Windows 11 “2025 Update” (version 25H2) quietly shipped on September 30, 2025 — yet, for many users, it still hasn’t shown up automatically.

Why the lag? Microsoft has confirmed that from October 14, 2025, version 25H2 will be pushed more broadly through Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) — especially for commercial / enterprise environments.

What’s Actually Changing (vs. What’s Not)

Under the hood, 25H2 is delivered as an enablement package — that is, much of the new version already lives within 24H2 builds, dormant until unlocked.

In fact, many “new” features have already been included in cumulative updates to 24H2, but they’ve been hidden behind enterprise / management controls until now.

The update isn’t a major overhaul. It’s more about resetting the support clock: 24H2 support ends October 13, 2026; version 25H2 will be supported through October 12, 2027.

Some removals occur: PowerShell 2.0 and WMIC (Windows Management Instrumentation command-line) are being deprecated.

So, if you’re hoping for flashy new features or interface overhauls — you may be underwhelmed. But from a lifecycle and stability perspective, this matters.
