TCS Appoints Sudeep Kunnumal as Chief Human Resources Officer Following Milind Lakkad’s Retirement

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has officially appointed Sudeep Kunnumal as its new Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), effective today, October 1, 2025. This leadership change follows the immediate superannuation of outgoing CHRO, Milind Lakkad, as disclosed by the company in a stock exchange filing on Tuesday.

Kunnumal, a 25-year veteran of the IT services giant, steps into the role after serving as CHRO-designate since March 14, 2025. His appointment ensures a seamless transition in leadership for TCS’s vast global workforce.

Before this elevation, Kunnumal successfully led the HR function for the Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) vertical, TCS’s largest revenue-generating segment, which accounts for up to 40% of the company’s revenue. His background includes diverse HR leadership roles across North America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, giving him a comprehensive view of the employee lifecycle.

TCS highlighted Kunnumal’s extensive contributions, noting his efforts in strengthening talent integration during mergers and acquisitions, and his innovative use of technology. He is credited with leveraging advanced technologies and AI to implement dynamic talent marketplace solutions in BFSI, which optimize resource deployment and enhance workforce agility. Kunnumal is also recognized for setting a Guinness World Record through CodeVita, the global programming contest that transformed TCS’s campus hiring practices. He holds a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management from Madurai Kamaraj University.
