Google Alert! Hackers Demand $50M Ransom After Data Breach, Know Who’s at Risk

Google Issues Alert After Oracle Data Breach; Hackers Demand $50 Million Ransom

Tech giant Google has issued a warning after cybercriminals hacked into Oracle’s E-Business Suite, stealing sensitive corporate data. Following the breach, several executives and IT teams of major companies received ransom emails. Reports suggest that the hackers are demanding up to $50 million to avoid public exposure of the stolen data.

Cl0p Group Launches New Cyberattack

According to Reuters, the Cl0p hacker group targeted Oracle E-Business Suite, which supports critical corporate functions such as finance, supply chain, and customer management. At least one company has confirmed that its system was compromised, while other victims have received evidence of the hack, including screenshots and file listings.

Cybersecurity firm Halcyon noted that Cl0p has recently demanded ransoms ranging from seven to eight figures, marking a significant escalation in the group’s operations.

What Google Warned About

Google’s Threat Intelligence Group found that the hackers began sending ransom emails using hundreds of third-party accounts before September 29. The group reportedly exploited Oracle’s default password reset process, though some experts believe the attackers may have leveraged a software vulnerability.

Careless Ransom Emails Increase Risk

The ransom emails sent by Cl0p contained numerous spelling and grammar errors, consistent with the group’s previous operations. The contact details provided in the emails match Cl0p’s dark web leak site.

It is not yet clear whether any of the targeted companies have paid the ransom. Oracle has not issued an official comment on the incident.

This attack highlights the growing threats to corporate data and the importance of securing third-party applications against cyber exploitation.
