Akshay Kumar PadMan Challenges: Reveals Challenges Behind ‘PadMan’: Convincing Twinkle Khanna and R. Balki

In a candid conversation on the show Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle, Akshay Kumar shared intriguing insights into the making of his film PadMan. Despite being a home production, the journey to bring this socially relevant film to life wasn’t as straightforward as one might assume.

Convincing Twinkle Khanna

Contrary to expectations, Akshay wasn’t Twinkle Khanna’s first choice for the lead role in PadMan. Twinkle revealed that she had envisioned another actor for the part. However, Akshay passionately convinced her, emphasizing that a prominent actor like him portraying the subject of menstrual hygiene would significantly impact societal perceptions.

Persuading Director R. Balki

Akshay didn’t stop at convincing Twinkle; he also persuaded director R. Balki to helm the project. He humorously mentioned that he didn’t just audition for the role but had to “convince” both Twinkle and Balki to bring the film to fruition.

The Impact of ‘PadMan’

PadMan is based on the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham, a social entrepreneur who revolutionized menstrual hygiene in rural India. The film, produced on a budget of ₹85 crore, went on to earn over ₹200 crore at the box office, highlighting its widespread appeal and the importance of addressing such societal issues.
